About us
Board members
The New Zealand Remembrance Army is guided by a dedicated board of volunteers who bring leadership, vision, and deep personal commitment to our mission. Together, they oversee the strategic direction of the NZRA, support our national network of volunteers, and ensure our work remains grounded in respect, integrity, and service.
Simon Strombom – Founder and Chief Executive
Simon leads the NZRA with passion and purpose, having built the movement from the ground up. His vision drives our mission to restore every service grave in New Zealand
Mark Brewer – Trust Board Member and Area Coordinator
Mark plays a dual role, supporting both national strategy and local operations. His hands-on leadership helps bridge the gap between planning and action.
Together, our board represents the heart of the NZRA – committed to remembrance, restoration, and the belief that every New Zealander who served deserves to be remembered with dignity.
Our regional co-ordinators
Our regional coordinators are the heart of the New Zealand Remembrance Army. They’re the ones who bring our mission to life in your communities, by organising local teams, guiding restoration work, and building relationships with councils, RSAs, iwi, schools, and families.
They’re not part of a rigid hierarchy. Instead, they work with flexibility, trust, and a shared commitment to honouring those who served. Whether it’s coordinating a working bee, mentoring new volunteers, or helping locate forgotten graves, their leadership ensures every project is done with care, respect, and community spirit.
Without them, our work is not possible. They’re the quiet champions behind thousands of restored memorials and the reason our movement continues to grow.
